We all know what we should be doing, or how we should be feeling about ourselves, but often we don’t know HOW to bring those ideas and concepts into life.
With CBT, we dive deep into the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviour, empowering you to challenge negative patterns and cultivate healthier coping strategies. CBT is a "problem-focused" and "action-oriented" form of therapy that is tailored to your unique needs, offering practical tools and techniques to overcome obstacles, build resilience, and achieve your goals.
CBT & Hypnotherapy can be considered the two methods of treatment most supported by clinical research on psychological therapy, and there is growing evidence to support the long-standing clinical observation that they work even better when combined together.
Why combine Hypnosis & CBT?
Evidence shows that adding hypnosis to CBT improves outcomes compared to CBT on its own. This synergistic combination allows for deeper exploration, faster transformation, and more lasting change.

Perfectionism is a covert or hidden difficulty often masked by a commitment to success or high achievement - this means that perfectionism is not always viewed as a problem and therefore in a therapeutic setting, this would not be a reported concern.
Most people would consider having high standards a good thing but at times this is just a complex anxiety trap. Striving for excellence might indicate that you have a solid work ethic, motivation, strength and ambition. But when achieving success is consistently associated with one's value, self-worth and self-esteem, we risk falling in the trap of clinical perfectionism. A first step would be to recognise that perfectionism, in the long run, is having a negative effect on one’s esteem and confidence, by diminishing potential and creating stress (Mirea, 2019).
With CBH, you dive deep into the subconscious realms, unraveling the roots of perfectionism and rewriting the inner narrative. Through hypnotic techniques and cognitive restructuring, CBH empowers you to challenge unrealistic standards and embrace imperfection as part of the human experience.
By fostering self-compassion and promoting a growth mindset, CBH helps you cultivate resilience and flexibility in the face of challenges. Say goodbye to the endless pursuit of perfection and hello to a life of authenticity and fulfillment.
In CBH, you and I work together as a team. You are the expert in you, so we work together to discover the thoughts, feelings and behaviours which contribute to your problem.
We begin by psycho-education and identifying your problem, and agree on a treatment plan based on our shared understanding of what specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-limited goals we can achieve. We'll use different techniques and strategies, in vivo experiments, and gradual exposure to help you develop new coping skills and healthier cognitions. You will be assigned with a practical homework after each session, whether in a form of self-monitoring (thought diary), a recording to listen to, or as a visualisation exercise, either with or without hypnosis. But most of time the focus will be on your behaviour. In fact, behaviour can change our emotions and cognitions, and I have learned that in case of depression and anxiety is really not about what we think but what are actions are. So to change our emotional state, we really must “get out there” and change our behaviour. It might sound challenging, but I promise you, it will be worth it. Moreover, the effectiveness of the treatment depends on your motivation and willingness to work between the sessions (in the most comfortable way for you). And that's why CBH is so effective - it provides you with all the necessary tools and effective action plan to create a change, instead of just talking about your issues with you "paid friend". You will do most of the work because nobody else can heal you but yourself.
With each session, we will track progress towards your goals and use different therapeutic interventions to help you on the way, and you'll develop a plan to help you maintain and continue your progress.
While traditional CBT primarily focuses on addressing cognitive distortions and modifying behaviors through conscious awareness and rational analysis, CBH incorporates hypnotherapy techniques to access the subconscious mind and facilitate deeper, more rapid change. By combining cognitive restructuring with hypnotic suggestions, CBH can target underlying beliefs and habits more effectively.
Hypnosis in CBH involves inducing a trance-like state of deep relaxation, where the conscious mind becomes more receptive to suggestions and imagery. During hypnosis, you can access the subconscious mind, where deeply ingrained beliefs and patterns are stored. We use hypnotic suggestions to challenge negative beliefs, promote positive change, and facilitate inner transformation.
Treatment plan is always based on conceptualisation of the problem and tailored to individual needs of each client. So the number of sessions required varies from person to person.
For instance, relatively straightforward issues like specific phobias or life changes may require only a limited number of sessions, whereas more complex issues may require more extended treatment. Some individuals experience significant progress in just a few sessions, while others may benefit from multiple sessions spread over several months. On average, most people typically undergo 3-6 sessions.
It's also common for people to attend therapy for a certain period, take a break, and return later on to address other concerns.
Ultimately, it's up to you how much you want to work as therapy is a collaborative process, and the relationship between us is key to the healing process and the success of therapy. Our goal is to support and empower you in making lasting and transformative changes in your life. Your commitment to the process is vital for the success of this therapy. In fact, CBH relies on individuals' ability and willingness to engage in self-reflection, identify problematic thought patterns, and implement behavioral changes. If you lack motivation or are resistant to therapy, CBH may be less effective.
Considering all the misconceptions about hypnotherapy and how the term hypnosis is being misused in pop-psychology and elsewhere, evidence-based practice is an essential aspect of delivering effective, ethical and safe hypnotherapy. Evidence-based practice means using the most relevant and recent available research evidence with clinical expertise and utilising techniques that have been proven to be effective. Importantly, taking into account individual differences, preferences and needs of the clients, and tailoring therapy to each client's unique situation. That means prioritising evidence based techniques and adapting them to personal approach, and working collaboratively with clients to achieve the best possible results.
Sphere of competence is not only about what a therapist can do but also what they should not do. There are certain limitations when it comes to my sphere of competence, including severe anxiety disorders, PTSD, OCD, major depression disorder, anorexia and other eating disorders, psychosis and schizophrenia, and other personality disorders. Treating clients with these issues can be potentially dangerous. Therefore, not every individual might be suitable for hypnotherapy. So before proceeding with the therapy, we must consider all the risks and be precocious when it comes to certain issues, in order to provide safe and ethical practice.
Client confidentiality in hypnotherapy is an integral part of a therapist's code of ethics. That is, by the law, hypnotherapists, like other professionals, must maintain confidentiality of information given them by clients. It is my responsibility and law duty to make sure your personal details are kept secure and private.
Informed consent to hypnotherapy is fundamental in both ethics and law. It is a process of communication between the therapist and the client that is about the education of a client about the risks, benefits, and alternatives of a given treatment. It is also about the client being able to participate in decision making in every phase of the treatment, which is their legal right. Nothing should ever be done without your permission, ensuring your understanding and answering any questions.
